SEE IT. SHARE IT. ADDER BITES

Adder encounters can happen quickly and often without warning — especially during the warmer months when dogs are exploring more, walking through longer grass, heathland, woodland edges, or sunny paths. 🐍🐾

Adder bites are not common, but they can be serious, which is why building a clearer picture of where, when, and how these encounters happen can be incredibly valuable.

Sharing experiences such as:
• where an adder was seen
• the type of environment
• time of day
• weather conditions
• how your dog behaved afterwards

can genuinely help other owners become more aware and better prepared on their own walks.

Awareness doesn’t need to create fear — it helps people make calmer, safer decisions:
• keeping dogs closer in higher-risk areas
• recognising symptoms earlier
• knowing when to seek veterinary help
• understanding seasonal and local patterns

Community knowledge is incredibly powerful when it’s shared supportively and responsibly. One shared experience could help another owner avoid a dangerous situation altogether. 💚

If you’ve ever encountered an adder while out walking your dog — or your dog has experienced an adder bite — please share your experience. It could genuinely help someone else and may even save another dog’s life.

Comment below, send us a message, or complete a report.

If possible, please include:
📍 Location
📅 Date & time
🐕 Outcome of the encounter (sighting only, close encounter, bite etc.)

Let’s build a clearer safety picture together.

Share with other dog owners to help gather more experiences and improve awareness.

WARM WEATHER CHECKLIST

Hot weather can pose serious risks for dogs, often building up gradually rather than all at once. Our Warm Weather Checklist is a simple, practical guide designed to help you make safer decisions before, during, and after every walk.

From avoiding peak heat and hot surfaces to recognising early signs of fatigue and delayed heat stress, it covers the small steps that make a big difference.

How to use it:
Download the Warm Weather Checklist (PDF) and keep it handy on your phone or print it out for easy reference. Use it as a quick check before heading out, a guide during your walk, and a reminder for proper cool-down and monitoring afterwards. Over time, it helps you build safer habits into your daily routine.

Simple, clear, and designed for real life—so you can enjoy warm days with confidence.
